A strong expertise
Sarah SAMEUR handles impact project financing and sustainable finance cases in the infrastructure and renewable energy areas in Sub-Saharan Africa, Europe and France. She assists a range of clients whose common feature is consideration of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals : States, international financial organisations, multilateral and bilateral development banks, and committed companies.
Sarah SAMEUR has also developed a specific expertise on the duty of care and effective consideration of environmental, social and good governance criteria to set up and structure complex commercial transactions and large-scale project financing operations.
A challenging professional background in the development world
Sarah SAMEUR started her career in 2014 as a finance legal counsel within an international institution, before passing the Paris Bar exam.
In 2015, she joined the European Investment Bank’s legal department, and then the Herbert Smith Freehills LLP international law firm in Paris.
In 2016, Sarah SAMEUR worked as an international legal adviser within the African Legal Support Facility – a international body from the African Bank of Development in Côte d’Ivoire – in order to assist African States and protect their legal interests by helping them structure and negotiate major infrastructure and energy projects.
Sarah SAMEUR came back to France in 2018 and took an oath to become a lawyer at the Paris Bar. She worked as a lawyer in international law firms (Norton Rose Fulbright LLP, DLA Piper LLP) before founding the law practice DEMAIN in January 2023.
Tailor-made services with a holistic approach
Out of concern for a holistic approach, Sarah SAMEUR regularly works in close collaboration with fellow lawyers from interrelated specialities (public law, tax law, company law, banking law, construction law and duty of care).
When required by the complexity and scope of the case, Sarah SAMEUR works with a network of technical and financial experts well-versed in international requirements and standards regarding specific fields of expertise (financial modelling, social and environmental studies, mediation and arbitration in human rights).
